Governor jerry brown announced on Saturday that the state’s budget deficit has grown beyond previous projections. In the governor’s preview of his may budget release, he announced a 16-billion dollar gap between revenue and expenses. That’s nearly 7-billion dollars higher than the previous projection. Governor brown is pushing for a series of tax measures to be voted on this fall. The new shortfall means likely across-the-board cuts. If voters reject the governor’s tax proposals, the cuts will be increased.
