a retired SERGEANT with the hollister police department who was convicted of embezzlement is scheduled to be sentenced on friday. 54 year old ray wood pleaded no contest to charges of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the police officer’s union. the embezzlement took place over a 6 year period, starting in 2004, while wood had been union president. he is expected to serve 6 months behind bars, and pay restitution to the union.
