No contest, grand theft 04/19/12 8:30p.m. TDH

A former employee of a santa cruz county non-profit organization pleaded “no contest” thursday to defrauding the organization.   Elena Moya was convicted of felony grand theft, for embezzling more than 30-thousand dollars from “Community Bridges.”   Moya committed the theft between September, 2010 and august of 2011, while she was the director of the organization’s meal-reimbursement program.  As part of her plea deal, moya is expected to be sentenced to 90-days in santa cruz county jail, as well as 3-years probation.  She has been ordered to pay nearly 38-thousand dollars in restitution.  her husband martin moya is expected to also be sentenced to 90-days in jail and 3-years probation.  He pleaded “no contest” to 1-count of check forgery.  Community bridges provides meals, support, and other services to residents of santa cruz county.
