PG partner in desal effort 04/19/12 5p.m. TDH

The pacific grove city council has approved a proposal to make the city the lead partner in an effort to construct a desalination plant.   The city is set to partner with developer nader agha.   Agha owns an industrial property in moss landing, where a plant could potentially be built.  As part of the agreement, agha will have to pay the cost of preparing a formal proposal.  The pacific grove city council vote on Wednesday was 6 to 1.  Meanwhile, on Monday, cal-am water officials are expected to file an updated proposal on how to reduce pumping from the carmel river.  That plan is likely to urge the inclusion of a desalination plant.
