Calif. Supreme Court reverses reversal 04/19/12 5p.m. TDH

The California supreme court ruled thursday against the reversal of a conviction stemming from an attempted murder case in santa cruz county.  Jacob townley Hernandez was originally sentenced to 25-years-to-life-in- prison for the 2006 shooting, (which occurred in the live oak area).  Hernandez was convicted of attempted murder, however the conviction was later overturned by the 6th district court of appeals.  Judges agreed that Hernandez had been deprived of information about witness testimony against him.  While the 6th district court of appeals ruled that that was a violation of his constitutional rights, the state supreme court today disagreed.  Justices ruled unanimously to have the 6th district court of appeals re-examine the case.
