Beach rescues 04/01/12 TDH

Large surf and strong currents yesterday contributed to multiple rescue calls from santa cruz beach-goers.   Santa cruz firefighters and fire department lifeguards responded to a few incidents at mitchell’s cove.  In 1-incident, a couple of surfers were able to get themselves to safety without help, while in another incident, a surfer had to be assisted by a lifeguard boat.  He refused medical treatment.   Shortly after that, a boogie-boarder had to be assisted by another person.  She also refused medical treatment.   Fire department lifeguards were also called to assist a woman at the san Lorenzo river mouth, however there were no victims upon arrival.
