Auditor reports problems, SVMH 03/08/12 7:30p.m. TDH

The California state auditor has released a report that notes a number of issues with practices at salinas valley memorial hospital.  Among the criticisms were 2 main points: the healthcare system’s board of directors did not have an official policy for executive compensation.  Despite a state law requiring executive pay in public agencies to be put on agendas for both public and private meetings,  S-V-M-H board members never did that.  In addition, the auditor’s report notes that the board does not have a written conflict-of-interest policy.  The board’s president responded with a letter to the auditor, saying actions are being taken to correct the problems.
