an explosive device was detonated in a seaside neighborhood last night by the monterey county sheriff’s office bomb squad. a suspect tossed a molotov cocktail at a car on the 1400 block of wanda avenue around 8:30 sunday night. the molotov cocktail exploded and set the car on fire, and a pipe bomb came to rest next to the car but did not detonate. after seaside police arrived, the street was closed off and the pipe bomb was detonated by the monterey county sheriff’s department bomb squad. anyone with any information on this attack is asked to contact the seaside police department.
