Hearing delayed, Cameras OK’d 01/29/12 11:15p.m. TDH

A preliminary hearing that was scheduled for this past Friday was delayed to Monday for a salinas man accused of murder.   Not all of the prosecution’s witnesses were available on Friday, which caused the re-scheduling.  Also at issue at Friday’s pre-trial hearing for 54-year-old Adnan Nijmeddin, was a request by the defense to ban cameras from the courtroom.  The defense argued that the constant images of the defendant in shackles would taint a potential jury.  The judge disagreed, and ruled that cameras can remain, for now.  Nijmeddin is facing murder charges for allegedly running over 47-year-old billy rajah junior on January 17th.
