P.G. withdraws from Water district 01/19/12 10:30p.m. TDH

Pacific grove city council members voted on Wednesday to withdraw from the monterey peninsula water- management district.  the council decided to join 5-other area cities in forming a [so-called] “joint powers authority” to manage water.  Pacific grove is the 3rd city to withdraw from the district, following the lead of sand city and carmel.  Monterey city leaders are also considering leaving the water district.  Pacific grove could potentially determine its own water projects, and issue bonds through the joint powers authority, but the city will not be able to control water that is regulated by California American water.
