Frost/freeze advisory, wed.am. 12/06/11 7:30p.m. TDH

A frost advisory was issued by the national weather service for the salinas valley.  The advisory is set to last from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday.  It’s the 2nd night in a row the area is under advisory; temperatures dropped into the 20s in parts of monterey county on Tuesday morning.  The advisory means that plants and crops that are vulnerable to cold should be covered, and pets and livestock should not be left exposed.  The spca of monterey county also advises not to leave pets in vehicles when it gets cold, and make sure to check outdoor water supplies to see if they have frozen.  If your animal must be outside, it is legally required to have a structure to protect it from the cold.
