Climate action plan 12/06/11 6p.m. TDH

The final draft of the city of santa cruz’s climate action plan was released yesterday.  The plan calls for cutting the city’s greenhouse gas emissions through a series of measures, with the goal of making the city carbon neutral by the year 2016.  that would be achieved by replacing solar panels on city and residential roofs, as well as cutting energy in city-owned buildings by 40-percent, seeking to increase bicycle ridership, replacing streetlight bulbs with energy-efficient ones, and other measures, including purchasing carbon offsets.  The climate action plan sets goals for the city through the year 2020.
