an annual turkey giveaway that is hosted by the owners of 3 local 7-11 franchises is growing bigger than previous years. two hundred turkeys will be given out this year, about 50 more than the effort last year. the 3 stores, (2 in watsonville and 1 in live oak), wil raffle off 60 turkeys this year and the rest will be donated to local churches and food pantries. kirk dicicco and sheri dang, partners in the franchises, plan to open another 7-11 store in salinas and will expand the giveaway to that store next year.
