High speed rail stop in Girloy delayed 11/17/11 5:30p.m. TDH

Plans to put a high-speed-rail stop in gilroy have gone off the tracks.   A superior court judge in sacramento ruled that the effort to put stops in Gilroy and up through the san fancisco peninsula, must be put on hold.  The delay provides more time to conduct the necessary impact studies.   Judge Michael Kenny did side with the rail authority in another part of the ruling.  The rail authority had been accused of using faulty numbers to estimate ridership and profitability.  Judge Kenny ruled that the projections were legitimate.  this marks the 2nd time judge Kenny has required more studies by the rail authority.  The projects costs have swelled to 98.5-billion dollars, and the construction timeline has been delayed by at least a decade.
