Cal-Am Water, Dam project ruling 11/15/11 8p.m. TDH

A ruling last week from the state public utilities commission paves the way for cal-am water to recover some funds from customers, but not the entire amount the company was seeking.   California American water had been seeking to increase rates, to help pay for an 83-million dollar project to remove the san clemente dam.  the ruling from an administrative judge declared that cal-am can recover 49-million dollars, but not another 25-million that had been spent studying ways to modify the dam and keep it in place.    Cal-Am officials have 20-days to respond to the proposal.  The dam project also will involve re-routing the carmel river.  The national marine fisheries service and the California coastal conservancy.
