The santa cruz county regional 9-1-1 dispatch center has begun fielding calls from san benito county. The move to consolidate calls at the santa cruz center was made to save money for the county, and cities in san benito county. The 9-1-1 center has added 8-new employees to help field the increase in calls. The santa cruz center now handles calls for multiple agencies throughout the tri-county area.
