Capitola city council members have given preliminary approval of an expansion of the city’s “no skateboarding zone.” The move comes more than a month after a pedestrian was struck by a skateboarder on cliff drive. she later died from her injuries. The expansion of the zone that prohibits skateboarding includes all of capitola village and esplanade park, the pacific cove mobile home park and parking lot, as well as perry park, the rispin property and the adjoining path. The council is expected to finalize the new regulations at a meeting on august 25th. The rules would then be effective after 30-days.
