Capitola city leaders 08/08/11 7:20p.m. TDH

Capitola city leaders are set to consider repealing the city’s rent control ordinance.   Public comments will be heard on the matter, at the city council meeting scheduled for Thursday.   The city has spent about 1-point-5 million dollars to defend the rent control ordinance in recent years, and recently amended it, in order to end litigation brought by a park owner.  However the city is now facing legal challenges from some residents, who argue that the changes violate state law.   All that has city leaders wondering if it would be more effective to repeal the mobile home park rent control ordinance.  The meeting is set for 7 p.m., in capitola city council chambers.
