1-person suffered burns on his face, after being splashed with acid on Monday. The incident occurred just after noon, on santa cruz’s Westside, when a bottle of highly-acidic drain cleaner spilled in the back of a pickup truck. Some of the liquid splashed into a worker’s face, and he was taken to a local hospital. Santa cruz firefighters and county environmental health workers were able to neutralize the acid that had spilled onto a nearby car, and the scene at Woodrow and pelton avenues was declared safe.
