A convicted gang member was sentenced to 3-years in prison today, for a violent attack on a peace officer last year. Oscar cruz had admitted to putting a Watsonville police officer in a headlock last November, as the officer tried to pull cruz from a vehicle which was not his. 2-bystanders were able to help the officer get the upper hand. In addition to the assault, cruz was convicted of burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property. Gang enhancements were added, which increased the sentence.
