although governor jerry brown’s latest budget plan has promised “flat funding” for school districts, soquel union elementary school district still facing a major deficit. the 4-school district faces over a 1.5 million dollar budget shortfall by 2013. administrators are expecting to continue the mandatory 3 furlough days for all employees, and may have to increase class sizes to save funding.
the district has recently received donations from the packard foundation and first five to hire a teacher’s aide.
