The u.s. postal service announced today that it plans to move its mail processing facility in Salinas to san jose. The combination of the 2-centers is expected to be made by October. Many employees at the Salinas center are expected to be transferred to various locations and positions. Congressman sam farr, whose district includes Salinas, had opposed the move, and released a statement today urging the postal service to reconsider. Farr plans to meet again on Friday with officials, to try to stop the move, which is being done because of severe budget shortfalls.
