a gilroy man arrested earlier this week on suspicion of killing a CHIHUAHUA puppy during a dispute with his wife, may face life in prison if convicted. 53 year-old bud wally ruiz has been charged with felony animal cruelty. ruiz has four prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, if he is convicted of the animal cruelty charge, he could face 25 years to life in prison. he is scheduled to enter a plea at 1:30 p.m. on tuesday at a morgan hill courthouse.
