Salinas city council members agreed to a pay cut yesterday, to try to help the city stay financially afloat. Council members voted to give themselves a 13-percent cut, after a presentation by an economic consultant suggested that salinas could be facing budget deficits until 2016. That deficit could rise to 8-point-8 million dollars, unless further action is taken. Other city management positions also saw their pay slashed, by another 3-percent, bringing their total pay cut to 13-percent from 2009 levels.
