deputies from santa clara county special operations and investigations unit discovered about 8.2 million dollars of illegal marijuana plants while investigating an unrelated crime in morgan hill. deputies were attempting to contact a resident of kalana avenue, when a neighbor snuck out of his home and ran away. this behavior raised red flags to investigating deputies, who later obtained a search warrant for that residence after determining the home was being used to grow marijuana. deputies found about 28-hundred pot plants, all of which was confiscated and destroyed. the incident is still under investigation.
