S.C. APPROVES POLICE RETIREMENT PLAN 04-27-11 06:00 a.v.

As part of a 2-year contract that’s expected to save the city 3-million dollars during the next 2 years, Santa Cruz police have agreed to contribute 20% of their salaries toward the cost of their pensions, and move to a 2-tier retirement system. The tentative agreement was ratified Monday by the Santa Cruz Police Officers Association and approved yesterday by the city council during a closed session. The cuts represent over 10% of the bargaining group’s overall compensation next year and 8% the following year.
