SALINAS TRAFFIC PLAN REJECTED 04-19-11 18:00 a.v.

A plan aimed at alleviating neighborhood traffic near Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, was rejected by voters. According to results released today, the traffic calming program, failed by just 2-percent, after about 65-percent of the voters approved the plan. Supporters of the plan say the proposed program would’ve prevented people from speeding through residential streets, making streets safer for kids, while opponents say parts of the plan would’ve forced some resident to take alternative, sometimes longer, routes to get home.
