MONT. BAY AQUARIUM GRANT 04-15-11 07:30 a.v.

A 5.9 million dollar grant has been awarded to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to support projects that help raise public understanding and knowledge of California’s natural resources. The grant will help fund the aquarium’s 19-million dollar construction of the Open Sea galleries, which is slated to open on July 2nd. The Open Sea galleries will feature hammerhead sharks, jellies, ocean sunfish, schooling fishes along with a great white shark.

The grant was announced yesterday by the California State Parks Office of Grants and Local Services through it’s Nature Education Facilities Program.
