FORT ORD BUIS. PARK REJECTED 04-14-11 20:00 a.v.

The Monterey County Planning Commission rejected a proposal this week to build a business park on the former Fort Ord. The proposed 58-acre Business Park, known as Whispering Oaks, would have included a 24-acre administrative and maintenance facility for Monterey-Salinas Transit. The proposal was opposed in part due to the 4,400 oak trees that would have been cut down to build the project. Officials say the decision can be appealed to the Board of Supervisors.
