WRONGFUL DISMISSAL LAWSUIT 04-08-11 07:00 a.v.

A lawsuit has been filed by a former Monterey County Chief Deputy Sheriff claiming that he was wrongfully dismissed from the department.  Eduardo Lorenzana claims he was fired without cause by Sheriff Scott Miller, who demoted the former chief deputy back to the rank of commander before he left office. According to the Monterey County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, under the demotion, Lorenzana held permanent status of continued employment, which forbids firing an Association member without a reason. According to the complaint, Lorenzana qualifies for the protections of the Association’s contract since his demotion.
