MCO CELLPHONE CRACKDOWN 04-06-11 06:00 a.v.

In observance of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a zero tolerance will be enforced in Monterey County during the entire month of April. Motorists texting or talking on their cellphones will be cited for breaking the law. The minimum ticket cost is $159 with subsequent tickets costing nearly $300. Over 225 local agencies and 103 California Highway Patrol Officers are expected to participate in the crack down.
