While being arrested for driving under the influence, a 36-year old man was also charged with assaulting an officer last night in Larkin Valley. Officers responded to a 1-1 call at around 11:30 p.m. about a man beating his car with a bat on Highway-1 near Larkin Valley Road. Officers arrived and found Sergio Castillo driving on the shoulder of the road. He was pulled over and while being arrested for driving under the influence, Castillo kicked an officer in the face. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail for D-U-I charges, resisting arrest and Battery on a Peace Officer.
