AIR PATROLS CONTINUE IN BIG SUR 04-01-11 06:30 a.v.

As work continues in the Big Sur area to restore vehicular access on Highway-1, law enforcement and emergency services plan to continue patrolling the area through the skies. The CHP Monterey Coastal Division say they have been patrolling the coast from the air between Oxnard and Santa Cruz, looking for vehicles that have gone over the side of the cliff, or searching for people stranded on the ground. Air unit patrols have increased since the March 16th landslide when a 40-foot section of Highway -1 gave way into the ocean between Rocky Point and the Bixby Creek Bridge, then another slide occurred at Alder Creek 28-miles farther south.
