CAPITOLA MOBILE HOME PARK PLAN APPROVED 03-31-11 17:30 a.v.

In an effort to end a legal battle over a rent control ordinance, Capitola City Council members yesterday approved helping a nonprofit operator of affordable mobile home parks purchase a Capitola mobile home park. The proposed deal of helping Millennium Housing purchase Castle Mobile Home Estates, is expected to move forward. Under the terms of the agreement, 64 of the 108 units will be for low and very low income housing. Rents for the lowest income residents will be up to $600 . Millennium says they plan to work on infrastructure improvements and to keep rent controls in place for 55 years.
