S.C. COUNTY STORM DAMAGE 17M 03-29-11 20:30 a.v.

Santa Cruz County Officials estimate 17-million dollars in damages were caused by the recent heavy storms. The County is expected to seek declaration as a local emergency first before requesting state and federal aid. Unincorporated areas were deemed having roughly 7-million dollars in damages. Some of the damages include a slide near Scotts Valley last week that cut off access to over 30 homes. The town of Capitola is expected to separately seek funding for an estimated 10-million dollars in damages that occurred when a drain pipe ruptured underneath a Mobile Home Park causing water to flood into the village.
