Northbound Highway-1 was closed for about 20 minutes yesterday after Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a man holding a gun. At 3 p.m., a big-rig driver saw a passenger in a Land Rover handling a gun on Highway-1 near Freedom Boulevard. The land rover was pulled over on northbound Highway-1 near Park Avenue. Deputies say the passenger and his father had just returned from the shooting range, and the passenger was holding the gun during the drive. Both men were ticketed for a weapons violation.
