A Santa Cruz local is now officially one of the final 24 competitors on the Fox Network show, American Idol. The show’s 3 judges decided last night that 21-year old James Durbin of Santa Cruz will be among the 12 men competing. Beginning next week, however, Durbin’s fate now moves from the panel of judges to the show’s viewers, who will be able to vote for their favorite by text message, phone or new this year, through Facebook. The men take the stage Tuesday, followed by the women Wednesday. Judging for the finals takes place Thursday.
