A community meeting is slated next month to hear from a potential buyer interested in purchasing the former Cemex Cement plant site in Davenport. A Bonny Doon engineer and inventor is said to show interest in the land to build a wind-turbine plant, and has scheduled a community meeting at the end of March to talk about his plans for the site. Davenport residents say the permanent closure of the plant last January has not only affected the local economy, but has also greatly impacted the community’s sewer and water bills, which were being offset by subsidiaries from the plant. Officials, in the meantime, are considering other interim uses for the land, until something more concrete is developed.
