According to new findings released by the FBI, the City of Watsonville’s overall crime rate fell 15% in 20-10. The new crime rate statistics are the lowest the City has experienced in 30 years. The FBI crime index showed that there were only 36 crimes per 1,000 people last year, compared to 42 crimes per 1,000 people in 2009. Both Violent crime and arson fell 8%, burglary decreased by 6%, larceny and theft went down by 14% and motor vehicle theft dropped by 38%. While adult arrests increased 17%, juvenile arrests fell by 34%.
