LABAHIA VOTE DELAYED 02-22-11 20:30 a.v.

Santa Cruz City officials decided today to request more time to consider plans proposed for the site of a former historical oceanfront apartment complex. Santa Cruz Mayor Ryan Coonerty says city officials want more time to work with the California Coastal Commission’s staff about a plan to build to a 125-room hotel on the former LaBahia site on Beach Hill. The city is reportedly seeking an amendment of it’s coastal plan to allow for building 14-feet over the current height restriction of 3-stories.

The city council is said to cancel a special meeting slated for next Tuesday, March 2nd, to consider a resolution in support of the project, which was already approved in April of 2009.
