Santa Cruz Firefighters responded to an early-morning blaze today, that broke out on Locust Street. A report of a fire was made a 2:30 a.m., on the 3-hundred block of Locust Street. Fire crews evacuated a nearby Victorian house, and extinguished the flames in about a half-hour. The blaze was sparked by an outdoor water heater, and the flames spread to the siding of the Victorian house, up to the 2nd-floor. Damages were estimated at about 35-thousand dollars, however no injuries were reported.
