UCSC Professor Grant 02/20/11 10:45p.m. TDH

A U.C.S.C. Scientist has been awarded a 50-thousand dollar grant, to continue his work on genome research.  Assistant Professor Richard Edward Green was given the 2-year-grant by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation last week.  He was recognized for his work on the Neanderthal Genome Project, which helped identify a previously unknown human-like species.   Green plans to use the money to continue several research projects, including studying the d-n-a of alligators.
