A Santa Cruz local is set to go on to the next round of American Idol. 21-year old James Durbin last week ended it’s long audition phase in San Francisco for it’s new season, and survived last night’s group performance in Hollywood. Durbin performed with Santa Cruz Kids on Broadway in the fall of 2006 as the lead role in Beauty in the Beast. American Idol airs tonight at 8 p.m. and every Wednesday and Thursday on the Fox network.
