Rain, Flood Risk 02/17/11 7a.m. TDH

Several inches of rain, along with some of the highest tides of the year, have officials on the central coast warning of possible flooding this week.  Officials are urging residents to be aware of low-lying areas, such as the capitola esplanade, that could be a risk of being flooded.   The so-called “king-tide,” is the strongest of the year, as the gravitational pull of the moon and sun align with earth.   High tide is at 8:55 a.m. and 10:18 p.m. today.  [and] between 1 and 2 inches of rain are forecasted for the santa cruz area.
