S.V. Approves Land Purchase 02/17/11 6am TDH

Assemblyman Bill Monning introduced legislation Wednesday, that would give local governments the ability to recover legal fees, if they take court action to defend rent-control ordinances in mobile-home parks.    AB-579 would also give courts the ability to dismiss a lawsuit brought by a park owner challenging the rent-control, if the court finds the suit frivolous.   Currently, local governments have no legal ability to recover attorney’s fees if an owner challenged the regulations, which has forced some to forgo defending their mobile-home rent control ordinances.
