A new command/communications vehicle, that’s expected to assist emergency responders to major disasters, was unveiled today by the Salinas Fire Department and the Monterey County Operational Division. The 42-foot vehicle is equipped with advanced radio communications equipment, high definition video, infrared cameras, satellite broadband, video conferencing and high speed computer network access. The funding for the project was provided by the State Homeland Security Program, who awarded the project to the Salinas Fire Department in 2007.
