Monterey County Transit officials say a county road work project gets underway this week. Preliminary work is set to begin tomorrow for the Prunedale Improvement Project by removing trees along Highway 101, near Prunedale and Salinas in an effort to prevent birds from being adversely affected by construction activities. The road work is part of the 13-mile project, which will include tree removal along Highway 101 near Echo Valley Road and near Espinoza and Russell Roads.
