Emergency crews on the Central Coast responded to a plane crash on the Cal Poly campus in San Luis Obispo this morning. The pilot of the plane, identified as Jeffrey Wells, ran into a tree on a private ranch off of the 1100 block of Stenner Creek Road just before 10 am, prior to crashing 4 miles northwest of the airport. Wells pulled himself out of the plane, while the passenger, identified as an 86-year old man from Paso Robles, had to be extricated and is listed in critical condition. The plane was a Vintage 1941 Aeronca that departed from Paso Robles.
