SALINAS PUBLIC MTG. 01-31-11 08:00 a.v.

Salinas residents are expected to share their ideas this evening on safety issues plaguing their city and on how to tackle the budget. Tonight’s meeting falls on the heels of an announcement Salinas Mayor Dennis Donhue made last week when he addressed the city’s budget challenges saying the city faces a 7-million dollar budget deficit and it will require “shared sacrifice” to balance the books. Salinas’s police chief, Louis Fetherolf is also expected to attend tonight’s meeting and address community concerns about gang crime and safety. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Elementary School in Salinas on 120 Capitol Street.
