NEW WATER HOOK-UP MORATORIUM IMPOSED ON CAL-AM 01-25-11 15:30 a.v.

A new decision ruled by a California judge now authorizes California-American Water Company, or Cal-Am, to comply with a water moratorium on water hook-ups along the Monterey Peninsula. The new ruling prohibits new water hookups and increased use of water by existing customers, and is an effort to help reduce water that’s being taken from the Carmel River. Exceptions to the order include Sand City, Pebble Beach, the Highway 68 Corridor, Ryan Ranch, Hidden Hills and Bishop areas. The proposal is said to go before the Public Utilities Commission before it’s implemented.
